Shannon Sims

Shannon is a dance and gymnastics instructor at Style. She has been dancing since the age of two. Shannon is trained in ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, tap, modern, clogging, hip hop, and gymnastics. She has trained at Style Dance Academy and Jordan College Academy of Dance. While a student at Style, Shannon was named Miss Teen and Senior Dance of Indiana. She received several scholarships to dance workshops and conventions across the Midwest and has traveled all over the country competing in dance competitions, receiving several solo and group overall awards. In high school, she was a member of the Indian Creek Dance team for three years. Shannon was named a National Dance Association All-American twice during her high school dance team career. She was also named an All-State dancer through the Indiana High School Dance Team Association and placed second and third in the state as a soloist through IHSDTA.

Shannon graduated from Indian Creek High School in 2003 and was awarded the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. She has recently graduated cum laude from Franklin College in 2007 with a degree in Chemistry and minors in Biology and Biochemistry. Shannon was involved in many clubs and leadership roles on campus and is a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. While at Franklin College, she also received the William D. Province Endowed Scholarship and was named Greek Woman of the Year in 2007. Although her college degree is very different from the work she does at the studio, she hopes to be a member of the Style Staff for many years to come. Shannon plans on working as a chemist and eventually going back to graduate school. She loves working with all the students at Style and hopes all of them can feel the joy dancing can bring to a person's life. Shannon would not be the person she is today if she had not been involved with the staff and students at Style Dance Academy.
